DESCRIPTION:Class Time: 10:00am PST/1:00pm EST/7pm Paris \nClass is 1 hour 15 minutes\, with an optional 15-minute discussion after class. \nThis class is informed to help calm the nervous system and enhance feelings of wellbeing. We play with anatomical movement phrases derived from BodyMind Dancing™ (Dr. Martha Eddy)\, BodyMind Centering™ (Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen)\, and contemporary dance techniques. \nI guide class with imagery in a way that’s influenced by my background of meditation and yoga\, offering dance technique and imagery from contemporary Western and African movement languages. I nurture an open environment with good music where I hope you feel free to express yourself physically while taking care of your body’s needs. At the beginning of class each person is invited to share what is happening physically or emotionally\, and the class is guided in part by themes that come from the group.\nI choreograph movement to work for different levels of dancers\, with a warm-up\, skill-building practice\, and improvisation. We improvise with short movement phrases that help us attune to inner sensations and develop creatively. \nDonation is 10$. No one is turned away. At this time\, all proceeds go to Amor Propio’s network of therapists. This is a small\, volunteer-run nonprofit in Minneapolis that is providing free therapy services to Latinx families\, Spanish speaking clients and Indigenous Latinx populations throughout Minnesota. \nRegister for ClassShare this event with your network

DESCRIPTION:As we navigate vaccines and come out of lockdown in North America\, some countries such as India are experiencing the very worst of Covid19. Join our community in a global online solidarity concert and silent auction emceed by Bollywood star @geetsagarofficial on Saturday July 10 starting at 2pm PST. Our community\, our Sangha\, can help us embody a mindfulness practice. Thich Nhat Hanh speaks of true love being made of four elements: loving kindness\, compassion\, joy\, and equanimity. In Sanskrit\, these are\, maitri\, karuna\, mudita\, and upeksha. “If your love contains these elements\, it will be healing and transforming….True love has the power to heal and transform any situation and bring deep meaning to our lives” (Thich Nhat Hanh). Who is your community\, and how can you reach out with love? Join us to support and hear from frontline workers for India Covid relief. This is a moment that shows the power of small steps that can make a difference as several Gandhian organizations came together since April when the horrific second deadly wave of covid hit India.
